For a savory twist, consider adding cheddar cheese, green onions, or a dash of garlic and onion powder to the dough. Enjoy warm from the oven for the best flavor and texture!

Ingredients

Butter Tablespoons 6 (3/4 stick)
Granulated sugar 1 Tablespoon
Baking powder 1 Tablespoon
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Flour 2 Cups
Milk 3/4 Cup

Instructions

  1. Freeze butter for about 30 minutes before beginning. This helps make the biscuits light and flaky.
  2. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  3. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Cut the butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or grater until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Add the milk, stirring gently with a wooden spoon. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Use your hands to work the dough together, adding a little water if it’s too sticky.
  7. Once the dough comes together, fold it in half and gently flatten it. Rotate the dough 90 degrees, fold in half again, and repeat this process 5-6 times.
  8. Flatten the dough to about 1 inch thick using your hands.
  9. Cut the biscuits with a lightly floured 2 3/4-inch biscuit cutter.
  10. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for approximately 12 minutes or until the tops begin to turn lightly golden brown.
