Orange Rolls

Ingredients

All purpose flour2cups
Bread flour1cup
Salt3/4teaspoons
Oat milk (105-115°F)3/4cup
Active dry yeast2 1/4teaspoon
Granulated sugar1/4cup
Butter1/4cup
1 Egg + 1 egg yolk
Vanilla extract1teaspoon
Orange extract1/2teaspoon
Orange juice1tablespoon

Filling

Plant-based butter (softened)1/4cup
Dark brown sugar2/3cup
Cinnamon2tablespoons

Orange Icing

Confectioners sugar2cups
Plant-based butter (softened)2tablespoons
Oat milk3tablespoon
Vanilla extract1teaspoon
Orange extract1teaspoon
Orange juice1tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle yeast over the warm milk with one tablespoon of sugar. Cover with a paper towel for about 5min or until yeast is foaming.
  2. Whisk 1/4 cup melted butter, one egg + one egg yolk, and sugar into the yeast mixture. Add vanilla extract, orange extract, and orange juice.
  3. After combining the flours and salt, mix into the wet ingredients until a ball of sticky dough forms. Then knead for about five minutes.
  4. Cover the dough in a bowl with a warm towel on top, and allow it to rise for 1-2 hours.
  5. After the dough proofs, roll it into a rectangle then spread 1/4 melted butter the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll the dough tightly and cut into 10-12 cinnamon buns.
  7. Place the buns in a 9-inch pie dish or square baking pan, cover and let rise for an additional 45 minutes.
  8. After the second rise, bake the cinnamon rolls at 350 for 20-30min or until golden brown.
  9. Immediately after the rolls finish baking, make the frosting or icing and spread over buns. Enjoy!
